Who of us can resist the cozy ambiance of the dream homes featured in our favorite romantic movies? There are some films that you just have to watch just for the enchanting home interior inspiration. The Nancy Meyers aesthetic, named after the renowned film director, has become a popular home decor trend that evokes a sense of warmth, comfort, and luxury. This style is characterized by the use of neutral colors, natural materials, abundant candles, vintage looking finds, cozy textiles, and layering. Movies such as The Holiday, Something’s Gotta Give, Father of the Bride, and It’s Complicated are all intricately studied by Nancy Meyers Aesthetic enthusiasts. I like to summarize the Nancy Meyers aesthetic in this way: it just feels like coming home.

Part of the thrill of fall, is thinking about fires in the fireplace again. This time of year, I love lighting my candles and layering my furniture with throws and runners. I did a little research into how I could utilize pieces from the Interior Delights fall collection to decorate a Nancy Meyers inspired fireplace mantle. I just wanted a maximalist layered look, everything autumnal combined with the coziness of a fire. The perfect inspiration for relaxing with a warm beverage and indulging in a really good novel. When it all comes down to it, the Nancy Meyers aesthetic is not so much about design principles but more about a cozy, layered, and a sophisticated yet comfortable feeling. So glean what you like from her fireplaces shown here from her most popular movies with an understanding that it’s more a vibe that you really cannot get wrong.
One of the key elements of the Nancy Meyers aesthetic is the use of fabric in neutral colors. Soft and light tones like cream, beige, and other neutrals create a calming and inviting atmosphere. Natural materials, such as wood, stone, and linen, add warmth and texture to the space. I thought that this block print table runner would look so gorgeous on this mantle, and wasn’t sure how I was going to showcase it, but I love it swagged and off center on the mantle. Many of the Nancy Meyers movie interior fireplaces have artwork centered on the mantle, but I wanted a purely autumnal look so I centered this Brown Terracotta Line Vase with silver dollar eucalyptus stems instead of artwork. Abundant lighting is also key to the vibe, and nearly all of her fireplaces have candles and lighting, so I added flameless candle tapers and lots of gold accents that look so polished with all the more natural elements, like the white bird figures.
I wasn't feeling blissfully happy until I added the garden angelica picks and just tucked it in spots that were bare feeling, then my heart soared. For the finishing touch, I added another gold element, the metal hearts on jute rope along with a simple velvet ribbon for a bit of a cascade down the right side of the mantle. What do you think of this mantle, do you think this look captures the essence of the Nancy Meyers design aesthetic?
